ALBANY MOLECULAR RESEARCH INC. (AMRI)

CHALLENGES :

AMRI occupies the 5th floor of The Galen building at the Science Park 3 with existing laboratory 1 and 2 with anciliary offices. The expansion under the phase 2 works involve two new laboratory 3 and 4 of approximately 300sqm with 30 fumehoods in each laboratory. A new Assay lab, cultural cell lab totaling 65sqm and anciliary offices totaling 200sqm are also part of the expansion works. In addition to this, the existing offices were also to be upgraded with new layout and workstations etc.

The next challenge is the addition of a Flammable Storage room of approximately 85sqm at the first floor.

SOLUTIONS :

AZIL was entrusted to design and build the M&E services for the entire new facilities

• The M&E works that we designed for AMRI were as follows :-
• Electrical Lighting and Power System
• Fire Sprinkler System and Alarm system
• Air Conditioning & Mechanical Ventilation System
• Card Access Security System
• Audio Visual System for the new conference room
• Plumbing and Drainage System
• IT Infrastructure System
• Fume Hood Exhaust Control System
• Flammable Storage System

RESULTS :

We, AZIL and our Business Associates, completed the works within 8 months.

The air conditioning system for all the laboratories are design based on 100% fresh air and exhaust system with no recirculation. For the Fume Hood Exhaust Control System, we used Sauter Venturi Valve system and they are interlocked with the AHU air conditioning system to modulate the air flow via a variable speed drive system.

The M&E services for Flammable Storage room was designed with all explosion proof material/ equipments according to the regulatory board guidelines.

On top of the submissions for the above M&E works to the relevant Regulatory Authorities, we were also entrusted to produce and submit all the architectural drawings for approval accordingly for the Fire Safety .
